Privacyverklaring

3. Google Drive, OneDrive of iCloud Drive

Privacy policy

Version of 30 October 2026

This policy covers the LucieClass app for Mac and this website. LucieClass is made by Sjaaksoftwaresolutions. LucieClass is built to work without us: your data stays on your own computer and we don't receive it.

In short
  • No account, no LucieClass server, no analytics and no ads.
  • Your files are in your own Library folder; the database is on your own computer.
  • Lucie (the AI in the app) works on your Mac: with Apple Intelligence on supported Mac computers, or with an open model you download. Your Mac also voices the audio explainer itself, unless you choose an online voice.
  • Your chats with Lucie are kept on your Mac and deleted by themselves after 30 days.
  • If you connect your own account with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or OpenRouter, your question, earlier messages of the chat and the notes and sources Lucie uses (your selection or, if you select nothing, your whole subject or all your subjects) go straight from your Mac to that provider, and only after you have explicitly agreed to that. Section 2 says exactly what is sent.

1. Where your data is stored

None of this is sent to us. There is no account and no LucieClass server it could go to.

2. Lucie and AI

You choose how Lucie works. Every core feature works without an account.

Apple Intelligence (on your Mac)

On supported Mac computers with macOS 26 or later, LucieClass can use Apple Intelligence. Your questions and notes are then processed by the language model on your own Mac. LucieClass sends nothing to a server.

An open model you download

You can download an open language model, such as Mistral, Qwen or Phi. The model runs on your Mac; your questions and notes don't leave your computer. Models are downloaded from Hugging Face. As with any download, Hugging Face sees your IP address; the Hugging Face privacy policy applies to that download. LucieClass checks the file after downloading it.

An AI server on your own Mac

If you run an AI server on your Mac yourself, such as Ollama or LM Studio, you can connect LucieClass to it. Your questions and the material Lucie uses with them then go to that server. LucieClass only connects to a server on this computer, not to other computers on your network or on the internet. If you pick a model in that server that runs online instead of on your Mac, that server passes your questions and material on itself; that server's terms apply.

Your own account with an AI provider

You can also connect your own account with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or OpenRouter. Before anything goes to a provider for the first time, even before your key is checked, LucieClass shows which provider it is and what will be sent, and asks for your consent. If you agree, this goes straight from your Mac to that provider over an encrypted connection, not through us:

Your name and files Lucie doesn't use are not sent.

3. Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud Drive

If you like, you can keep your Library in, or move it to, your own Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud Drive folder on your Mac. That service's app on your computer then syncs the files. LucieClass itself never connects to Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud, doesn't use an account with those services and has no access to them. The terms of that service apply to what it syncs. Everything in your Library goes along, including what you made with Lucie; your chats with Lucie don't.

To prevent your Library from being edited on two computers at once, LucieClass writes a random device ID and a name it makes up for your computer (for example "Mac 3F7A", not your computer's own name) into the Library folder. That way another computer can show where the Library is still open or was last saved. Settings shows what this computer is called.

4. When the app uses the internet

LucieClass only connects to the internet when you choose to:

Nothing else: no analytics, no tracking, no ads and no LucieClass server. The app doesn't look for updates itself either.

If you got LucieClass from the Mac App Store and have chosen in macOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics from the app, without us knowing who you are. Apple handles this, not LucieClass, and you can turn it off in the macOS settings.

5. Children and young people

LucieClass is made for students. Because there is no account and we receive no data, we don't collect data about children through the app either. For the website, see section 7. Connecting an online AI provider is not needed. If you do, that provider's age rules apply (see section 2). Under 16? Ask your parent or guardian first.

6. Your rights

Because your data is on your own computer and not with us, you are in control of it. You can see it in the app and in your Library folder, and take it with you by copying that folder. You can delete files from your Library folder, remove downloaded models and keys in the app, and delete the app. You clear your chats with Lucie per subject with "Clear chat"; after 30 days they disappear by themselves. Deleting only the app leaves its data folder behind, with the database (your subjects, flashcards, progress, planner, settings and chats with Lucie), the speech cache and the models. To erase everything, delete that folder too: the app.lucieclass.desktop folder in ~/Library/Application Support, or in ~/Library/Containers for the Mac App Store version. For data you sent to an AI provider, contact that provider. If you have a complaint about how your data is handled, you can file it with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the supervisory authority in your country.

7. This website

This website is a static site served by Cloudflare. It uses no cookies, no analytics and no fonts or scripts from other websites, and it stores nothing in your browser (the app examples on the home page don't either). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver the pages and protect the site. We don't use that data.

Cloudflare processes this data as our processor, on our behalf. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the website secure and available (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare may also process this data outside the European Union.

8. Changes

If LucieClass changes in a way that affects this policy, we update it. The date at the top shows which version you are reading.
